Our Story | The Beginnings

Every movement starts with a spark.

In 2010, that spark came in Atlanta when missions-minded believers and organizations formed a simple prayer network called ATL2UPG, focused on unreached people groups. What began as prayer soon revealed a greater need: mobilizers longed for encouragement, the sharing of resources, and real collaboration. Out of that moment, the network grew into the Atlanta Mobilizers Huddle—a space where the mission of God could be advanced together, rather than alone.

Fast-forward to 2023, when a group of former missionaries, pastors, and ministry leaders in Fredericksburg, VA—many of whom had previously coordinated Perspectives—gathered with a shared conviction. They saw that their city needed more than individual efforts. It needed churches of every background linking arms to mobilize for greater missions engagement. From that conviction, the first Missions Collective (FXBG) was born.

They carried a bold belief: the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. If local churches unite as one movement, far more can be accomplished in the hardest-to-reach places. To make that possible, they built the Missions Collective platform to be open source—so any city that feels the same burden can adapt it, use it, and join the story. And if you do, know this: we are in your corner, ready to help you launch your city’s Missions Collective. Hear the full story here.

In 2025, Atlanta’s mobilizer network was reborn as the Atlanta Missions Collective, linking arms with Fredericksburg to become more local church–centric and to awaken Great Commission involvement across their city. That same year, a group of leaders from Cape Fear, NC, who had been deeply involved with Perspectives, launched their own Missions Collective (Cape Fear) to fuel year-round collaboration and resourcing.

What started as scattered prayer groups and small gatherings is becoming a movement of movements—rooted in prayer, empowered by the Spirit, and wholly dependent on God to raise up laborers for His harvest. Together, we press forward, not in our own strength, but in His, trusting that the One who called us is faithful to complete the work..
